They continue to fund fossil fuels and to violate Indigenous rights for profit. However, they are increasingly being exposed for their role in fueling the climate crisis and their disregard for Indigenous sovereignty.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;A &lt;a href=\\&quot;https:\\\/\\\/www.greenpeace.org\\\/static\\\/planet4-canada-stateless\\\/2021\\\/08\\\/a0d71ee1-canadian-banks-fossil-fuel-financing-greenpeace-canada-july-2021.pdf\\&quot;&gt;Greenpeace report&lt;\\\/a&gt; shows that &lt;strong&gt;Canada\\u2019s big 5 banks are pouring hundreds of billions of dollars into fossil fuel projects &lt;\\\/strong&gt;with RBC as the largest financier, followed by Scotiabank, TD, BMO, and CIBC, as well as the Desjardins Group. Since the Paris Climate Agreement was signed in 2015, these six Canadian banks &lt;strong&gt;have provided over $1 trillion to fossil fuel companies&lt;\\\/strong&gt;. Canadian banks have, so far, refused to divest from fossil fuels and are actually increasing their funding instead.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;The climate crisis is URGENT! Even the &lt;a href=\\&quot;https:\\\/\\\/www.greenpeace.org\\\/canada\\\/en\\\/story\\\/48582\\\/great-news-for-the-planet-iea-calls-for-fossil-fuel-development-to-stop-as-of-yesterday\\\/\\&quot;&gt;International Energy Agency (IEA) has expressed&lt;\\\/a&gt; the &lt;strong&gt;need to end the expansion of fossil fuels in order to meet the goals set in the Paris Climate Agreement&lt;\\\/strong&gt;.\\u00a0&quot;},{&quot;title&quot;:&quot;The solution&quot;,&quot;description&quot;:&quot;Ask yourselves: what is a pipeline or a fossil fuel project without funding? Nothing! Banks need to be held accountable for their part in fuelling the climate crisis and transition their funds from the toxic fossil fuel industry into Indigenous- and other most-affected community-led solutions.\\u00a0&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;In other words, there needs to be a complete dismantling of the relationship between banks and the fossil fuel industry. Climate-concerned people deserve to be informed about banks&#039; responsibility for funding climate change exploitation in Canada and abroad. &lt;strong&gt;No more empty promises!&lt;\\\/strong&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Cutting off the money pipeline is the fastest way to kill fossil fuel projects. &lt;\\\/strong&gt;Let\\u2019s show these fossil banks we will not be fooled by \\u200b\\u200bthem and their false declarations.
