3\u00a0<\/strong>July 2018 (VANCOUVER \/ UNCEDED COAST SALISH TERRITORY) \u2014\u00a0<\/strong>Greenpeace Canada has just launched an aerial blockade of Trans Mountain tar sands oil tanker traffic. Seven climbers are now rappelling from the\u00a0<\/strong>Ironworkers Memorial Bridge<\/a>\u00a0in Vancouver, while five additional climbers support them from the bridge\u2019s catwalk.<\/strong><\/p>\n The blockade is an act of\u00a0<\/strong>peaceful resistance to the\u00a0Trans Mountain Expansion<\/em>\u00a0pipeline and tanker project (TMX). It comes on the heels of months of escalating resistance led by Indigenous communities and supporters across Canada and around the world. The climbers are currently in the path of the tar sands oil tanker,\u00a0Serene Sea<\/em>, which is currently docked at the terminal.
