Seven climbers are now rappelling from the\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.ca\/search?q=Ironworkers%E2%80%99+Memorial+bridge&amp;oq=Ironworkers%E2%80%99+Memorial+bridge&amp;aqs=chrome..69i57j0l5.321j0j7&amp;sourceid=chrome&amp;ie=UTF-8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?hl=fr-CA&amp;q=https:\/\/www.google.ca\/search?q%3DIronworkers%25E2%2580%2599%2BMemorial%2Bbridge%26oq%3DIronworkers%25E2%2580%2599%2BMemorial%2Bbridge%26aqs%3Dchrome..69i57j0l5.321j0j7%26sourceid%3Dchrome%26ie%3DUTF-8&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1530713533084000&amp;usg=AFQjCNFrrQT95-EiPPSNh7QZe8zpR6RGZw\">Ironworkers Memorial Bridge<\/a><strong>\u00a0in Vancouver, while five additional climbers support them from the bridge\u2019s catwalk.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>The blockade is an act of\u00a0<\/strong>peaceful resistance to the\u00a0<em>Trans Mountain Expansion<\/em>\u00a0pipeline and tanker project (TMX). It comes on the heels of months of escalating resistance led by Indigenous communities and supporters across Canada and around the world. The climbers are currently in the path of the tar sands oil tanker,\u00a0<em>Serene Sea<\/em>, which is currently docked at the terminal. The tanker was scheduled to leave port this morning, but is now being blocked from leaving by the climbers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>A press release and photos will follow later this morning.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>WHO:<\/strong>\u00a012 climbers hailing from the Coast Salish community, multiple Canadian provinces and beyond Canada, who are opposed to TMX and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau\u2019s planned buyout of the failing project abandoned by Kinder Morgan in May.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>WHEN:<\/strong>\u00a0HAPPENING NOW.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>WHERE:<\/strong>\u00a0The blockade is best viewable from\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/R64LEWKpmXq\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?hl=fr-CA&amp;q=https:\/\/goo.gl\/maps\/R64LEWKpmXq&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1530713533084000&amp;usg=AFQjCNE1tX_DR7vkkB-YbxASSSzHIM-HjQ\">this park location<\/a>\u00a0off Bridgeway Street, just west of the Ironworkers Memorial Bridge on the south side of the inlet (dropped pin location). The blockade can also be viewed from New Brighton Park, which can accommodate some parking nearby. Spokespeople will be available at the park location off Bridgeway Street noted above. Climbers are also available for interviews post 9 AM PST.
