It is a fight the size of the one we led against the Energy East pipeline, a fight to which we need to bring the same energy. It&#8217;s also an additional controversial mega project to add to the list of polluting projects across Canada&nbsp; (such as TMX, Coastal GasLink, etc.) that have no place in a green and just recovery! <\/p>\n\n<p>Let&#8217;s not forget that <em>GNL Qu\u00e9bec<\/em> includes a pipeline that would cut through Qu\u00e9bec and parts of Ontario. It is aimed at exporting liquified gas from&nbsp;Western Canada to international markets. Financed by American interests, it plans (1) the construction of an over 780 km long pipeline to be called Gazoduq crossing the Abitibi region to Saguenay, (2) the construction of a plant to be called \u00c9nergie Saguenay which would be built to liquefy this gas as well as a (3) maritime terminal to export it internationally by supertankers via the Saguenay Fjord.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"has-crimson-color has-text-color wp-block-heading\"><strong>You have to say #GNLNonMerci because this project will simply :&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>worsen <\/strong>the climate crisis with estimated emissions of 50 MT of CO2 for its full cycle, the equivalent of 10 million new cars on Quebec roads each year.<\/li><li>the pipeline Gazoduq will <strong>cut through <\/strong>the habitat of 17 endangered animal species.<\/li><li>open the door to <strong>at least 300 transits of supertankers <\/strong>carrying LNG per year in the heart of the critical habitat of the endangered St. Lawrence beluga whale.<\/li><li><strong>transport<\/strong> liquefied natural gas on the Saguenay Fjord Seaway, which poses <strong>risks<\/strong> to the safety of riverside communities.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n<p>In spite of all this, the Qu\u00e9bec government continues to support the project and has even opened the door to financing it!&nbsp;The project <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/canada\/en\/press-release\/41055\/what-gnl-quebec-is-and-why-you-must-say-no-to-it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">also brings its share<\/a> of political and fiscal challenges and controversies.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>What can you do?&nbsp; Say&nbsp;#GNLNonMerci&nbsp;before September 21<\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\"><strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-gp-green-color\">Get your friends and family to sign up!<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons aligncenter is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button is-style-cta\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-text-color\" href=\"https:\/\/act.gp\/31fVqEw\" style=\"color:#ffffff\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">INVITE YOUR FRIENDS TO SIGN<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<p>Since you&#8217;ve already signed, help us circulate the petition.
