Greenpeace Canada conducts coast-to-coast Plastic Polluters Brand Audits<\/b><\/p>\n

Results to be announced \u00a0in October.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

12 September 2018 (VANCOUVER\/TORONTO\/MONTR\u00c9AL\/HALIFAX) \u2014 <\/b>As part of World Cleanup Day, <\/span>Greenpeace Canada will be partnering with organizations in four cities across Canada to conduct the first ever Plastic Polluters Brand Audit of Canada\u2019s shorelines and green spaces. <\/span>Brand Audits <\/span><\/a>identify the major corporations whose plastic waste is polluting Canadian communities, waterways, lakes and oceans. <\/span><\/p>\n

September 15th<\/b> will witness <\/span>cleanup <\/b>– <\/span>brand audit events<\/b> in <\/span>Vancouver,<\/b> in collaboration with <\/span>Surfrider Vancouver<\/span><\/i>; in <\/span>Toronto<\/b> in collaboration with <\/span>Don\u2019t Mess With The Don, Stop Plastics, and Strawless Toronto; <\/span><\/i>and in<\/span> Halifax<\/b> with the <\/span>Ecology Action Centre. <\/span><\/i>Branded plastic waste will also be collected from a cleanup conducted by Mission 10 Tonnes volunteers in <\/span>Montreal <\/b>to conduct an audit.<\/span> These events will take place alongside dozens around the world led by Greenpeace and other organizations in the Break Free From Plastic movement. For the occasion, \u00a0<\/span>world-renowned diver Torben Lonnes<\/b> wrote this special edition <\/span>blog<\/span><\/a> where he shares the plastic pollution that the diving community is witnessing underwater.<\/span><\/p>\n

The results of the global and national audits will be released at the beginning of October. <\/b>Members of the press are encouraged to attend the events <\/b>to capture images of the story as it unfolds, for a chance to talk with our campaigners as well as volunteers about our brand auditing methods and the purpose of these activities. <\/span><\/p>\n
