{"id":50398,"date":"2021-10-18T14:37:53","date_gmt":"2021-10-18T18:37:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/canada\/?p=50398"},"modified":"2021-10-18T14:37:56","modified_gmt":"2021-10-18T18:37:56","slug":"workshops-on-land-access-food-justice-and-farming-this-fall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/canada\/en\/story\/50398\/workshops-on-land-access-food-justice-and-farming-this-fall\/","title":{"rendered":"Workshops on land access, food justice and farming this Fall"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Calling all food, farming and climate activists!<\/p>\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/nfuontario.ca\/new\/\">National Farmers Union-Ontario<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/ontariofarmlandtrust.ca\/\">Ontario Farmland Trust<\/a> are hosting an upcoming workshop series for farmers and aspiring farmers of all ages and career stages this November.<\/p>\n\n<p>The series, titled <strong><em>Land-Linking and Farmland Conservation<\/em><\/strong>, will be comprised of three workshops:<\/p>\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>BIPOC Land Opportunities<\/strong> with the legendary <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/canada\/en\/story\/39956\/cheyenne-sundance-on-why-we-need-food-justice-now-and-after-covid-19\/\">Cheyenne Sundance<\/a> on Thursday, November 4, from 7 \u2013 9 p.m<\/li><li><strong>Land Partnerships &amp; Collaboration<\/strong> on Thursday, November 11, from 7 \u2013 9 p.m<\/li><li><strong>Farm Financing &amp; Business Planning<\/strong> on Thursday, November 18th, from 7 \u2013 9 p.m<\/li><\/ol>\n\n<p>In this series, attendees will learn about:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Succession models, including non-family succession and cooperatives;<\/li><li>Farmland conservation options, including Conservation Easements and Land Trusts; and<\/li><li>Support and resources for new farmers.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n<p>The series will offer networking opportunities for:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Young and aspiring farmers seeking land.<\/li><li>Established or retiring farmers in search of successors or farmland tenants.<\/li><li>Rural landowners with farmland to rent, share, or protect.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n<p>All workshops are free to attend and will be held online.
