24 October (MONTREAL) – <\/b>In response to the <\/span>new online map<\/span><\/a> produced by the Prairie Climate Centre at the University of Winnipeg showing the devastating projected impact of climate change on Canada\u2019s Boreal forest, Olivier Kolmel, forest campaigner at Greenpeace Canada, said:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis new map reveals the expected changes to happen in Canada\u2019s Boreal forests due to climate change. With soaring temperatures expected to increase across the country over the next few decades, the Boreal forest will be profoundly impacted. What is ironic though is that Canada\u2019s Boreal forest can play an important role in mitigating climate change because it stores more carbon than all tropical forests combined. Protecting the Boreal means protecting us and our climate. Let\u2019s remember that when we talk about climate solutions.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
