Climate Advocates plan Welcoming Committee At First Ministers Meeting to call out failures on climate change and need for urgent action <\/b><\/p>\n
December 6, 2018 ( MONTR\u00c9AL) – \u00a0<\/b>Climate action supporters, along with members of leading environmental groups 350.org, Climate Justice Montreal, Greenpeace Canada and others will gather outside of Friday\u2019s First Ministers Meeting in Montreal to demand that federal and provincial political leaders step up their game on climate change after this fall\u2019s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) <\/span>Special Report on 1.5 Degrees<\/span><\/i>. <\/span><\/p>\n The First Ministers\u2019 meeting is taking place at the same time as the ongoing COP24 climate summit in Poland, and the Welcoming Committee will call for increased ambition and faster action to reduce carbon emissions, and bring attention to solutions like creating a Green New Deal for Canada \u2013 a proposal to tackle climate change and economic insecurity through bold policies like a fossil fuel phase out, guaranteed jobs for workers impacted by the transition, and respect for Indigenous rights. <\/span><\/p>\n Where: <\/b>Outside the<\/span> Marriott Ch\u00e2teau Champlain, 1050 de la Gaucheti\u00e8re West, Montreal, Quebec <\/span><\/p>\n When: <\/b>Friday, December 7, 2018 from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM<\/span><\/p>\n Photo\/Video Opportunity: <\/b>Welcoming committee with visual messages.
