During its last meeting in March, allies of the deep sea mining (DSM) industry made an unsuccessful attempt to ban Greenpeace from future meetings. Now, they are gearing up for another push to gain approval for deep-sea mining. <strong>But we won\u2019t stand by and let this happen\u2014we need your help to stop them!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>The deep sea is home to mysterious creatures, many of which we know very little about. The ghost octopus held one banner from its tentacles reading \u201cStop Deep Sea Mining!\u201d and shouted \u201cProtect my home, Minister Joly!\u201d in English and \u201cProt\u00e9gez ma maison, ministre Joly!\u201d in French via a speech bubble. <div class=\"credit icon-left\"> \u00a9 Andrew Jehan \/ Greenpeace<\/div><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n<p><strong>We\u2019re calling on all Greenpeace volunteers, supporters, and ocean lovers to join us in creating a powerful symbol of resistance.<\/strong> And it\u2019s even a fun activity for kids of all ages! <strong>Let\u2019s paint octopuses on pebbles, stones, or rocks to craft a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/canada\/en\/press-release\/59451\/giant-octopus-lights-up-island-in-ottawa-urging-canada-to-oppose-deep-sea-mining\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"59451\">Ghost Octopus<\/a> rock garden. This art will serve as a tribute to the incredible lifeforms that could be wiped out by deep-sea mining.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Here\u2019s what you can do<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p><strong>Paint for the Deep Sea<\/strong>: Grab some pebbles, stones, or rocks, eco-friendly paint and paint octopuses on them.
