You can read Greenpeace\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/static\/planet4-canada-stateless\/2024\/09\/88e0d229-greenpeace-canada-submission-to-competition-bureau-re-amendments-to-the-competition-act-on-greenwashing-1.pdf\">full submission<\/a> to the Bureau for all the juicy details. We hope you will contact the Bureau (find out how <a href=\"https:\/\/competition-bureau.canada.ca\/how-we-foster-competition\/education-and-outreach\/public-consultation-competition-acts-new-greenwashing-provisions\">here<\/a>) before September 27 and tell them:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You support strong truth-in-advertising requirements for green claims by all companies, but especially big polluters like the oil and gas industry.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rather than letting big polluters set their definition of what it means to be carbon-neutral or net-zero, the Bureau should use science-based international standards, like the one developed by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/en\/climatechange\/high-level-expert-group#:~:text=The%20United%20Nations%20Secretary%2DGeneral,businesses%2C%20investors%2C%20cities%2C%20and\">United Nations\u2019 High Level Expert Group on the Net Zero Emissions Commitments of Non-State Entities<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Truth-in-advertising is not popular with oil executives, who <a href=\"https:\/\/calgaryherald.com\/business\/energy\/pathways-alliance-oilsands-group-removes-all-website-social-media-content-2\">scrubbed their websites and social media feeds<\/a> of questionable green claims following passage of the Act, but it is popular with regular people.
