    We are encouraging people to post on to X (formerly Twitter)<\/a> because this platform has been flagged as one of the most problematic for spreading disinformation during this election cycle. The goal is to flood the feed using the official debate night hashtag and our custom #DontTrumpCanada hashtag. If enough of us post, we can overrun their disinformation and get #DontTrumpCanada trending, amplifying the urgency of the moment to reject Maple MAGA.<\/p>\n\n

    The 2025 federal election is shaping up to be one of Canada\u2019s most historic, with a Trump trade war underway, fascist influences creeping across the border<\/a>, a sudden switch in Prime Ministers, and affordability and climate crises already in full swing.<\/p>\n\n

    The leaders’ debates are seen as important anchoring moments in an election, a chance for those vying to be the next Prime Minister to demonstrate their public speaking skills, sell their vision to voters, and criticize the h$ll out of each other.<\/p>\n\n

    Even in the best of times, these can be difficult to watch \u2013 they often seem more like a tear down contest using insults, slogans and \u201cgotcha\u201d moments. But this election cycle, we\u2019ve got one more contender in the ring to deal with: DISINFORMATION.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

    Disinformation has been called a key threat to both climate action and democracy, with far right channels now dominating the online space, dodging election spending rules and getting boosts in newsfeeds by manipulated algorithms. And the worst part? There is nothing in place to stop it. <\/p>\n\n

    That\u2019s why we\u2019ve created DEBATE NIGHT BINGO<\/em><\/strong> co-hosted together with On Canada Project!<\/a><\/p>\n\n

    This is an opportunity to come together online as a community, push back against the onslaught of disinformation flooding news feeds during the debate and identify the FACTS in all the hateful rhetoric. There will be a live Zoom hang out space<\/em><\/strong> where everyone is invited to play together + a post-debate breakdown with experts during the post-debate Town Hall where we can all ask questions and discuss.<\/p>\n\n

      1. The Bingo card contains a mix of phrases and concepts<\/strong> that have come up during this election cycle and which could come up during the leaders debate. Some of them have been linked with disinformation that needs to be debunked. Some are positive ideas that deserve more attention in this election. When one of them is mentioned in the debate, mark it on your card.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n
