{"id":69681,"date":"2025-04-24T13:49:48","date_gmt":"2025-04-24T17:49:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/canada\/?p=69681"},"modified":"2025-07-16T14:38:10","modified_gmt":"2025-07-16T18:38:10","slug":"where-do-the-parties-stand-on-climate-and-nature-in-election-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/canada\/en\/story\/69681\/where-do-the-parties-stand-on-climate-and-nature-in-election-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Where do the parties stand on climate and nature in Election 2025?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>While it has gotten relatively little attention in an election (understandably) dominated by the threats posed by the Trump administration,<a href=\"https:\/\/davidsuzuki.org\/press\/majority-canadians-support-climate-action-renewable-energy-ahead-federal-election\/\"> two out of three Canadians agree<\/a> that the next Canadian government should make climate action and protecting nature a high priority.<\/p>\n\n<p>The table below attempts to summarize the commitments made by the political parties. The previous Liberal government promised both an emissions cap for the oil and gas sector and a Nature Accountability law, but these did not appear in the party\u2019s platform.
