{"id":7624,"date":"2019-02-18T00:26:00","date_gmt":"2019-02-18T05:26:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/canada\/?p=7624"},"modified":"2019-11-06T03:28:04","modified_gmt":"2019-11-06T08:28:04","slug":"media-advisory-youth-march-for-climate-justice-in-ottawa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/canada\/en\/story\/7624\/media-advisory-youth-march-for-climate-justice-in-ottawa\/","title":{"rendered":"MEDIA ADVISORY:  Youth March for Climate Justice in Ottawa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>18 February, 2019 (OTTAWA)<\/b>\u00a0\u2013 Following a four-day \u00a0Powershift: Young and Rising convergence, volunteers from PowerShift <em>&#8211;<\/em>\u00a0an intersectionnal growing movement that gathered youth from all backgrounds across Canada &#8211; are marching today in a rally organized for climate justice.<\/p>\n<p>Starting at Parliament Hill, the rally will benefit from the presence of\u00a0 frontline land and water defenders,\u00a0black and communities of colour as well as various social and environmental grassroots groups leaders who will make the opening speeches before setting out for the hour long march. This march yet another pressing expression of a growing young mobilization movement spreading wide across Canada to highlight the urgency of climate change, and how climate justice intersects with social and environmental justice.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMigrant justice is climate justice. Environmental justice is social justice. The youth today are letting this and future governments know that the time for change has come and we will not back down. We demand good jobs for all, a livable climate and indigenous sovereignty.
