Pero no son s\u00f3lo \u00e1reas bonitas. Tambi\u00e9n funcionan como <strong>\u201cBosques Azules\u201d<\/strong> porque cumplen dos <strong>funciones vitales para el equilibrio planetario<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p>Primero, fijan carbono, lo que los convierte en un aliado clave en la lucha contra las emisiones que generan el cambio clim\u00e1tico. Entonces, es l\u00f3gico que los ambientes naturales sean indispensables como refugio, albergue y alimento de otros seres.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p>En el caso de los manglares, <strong>son hogar para especies de moluscos, crust\u00e1ceos, peces, anfibios, reptiles<\/strong>. Resulta que los pantanos y barros de los manglares son <strong>capaces de desalinizar el agua proveniente del mar. Tanto es as\u00ed que entre su vegetaci\u00f3n hay \u00e1rboles que alcanzan los 30 metros de altura.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<p>Se los puede ver como bosques estrechos y de poca altura como los de la Guajira o como los que se extienden a lo largo del R\u00edo Magdalena. Sin embargo, todos tienen algo en com\u00fan: no est\u00e1n a salvo porque <strong>en 40 a\u00f1os se destruy\u00f3 casi 30% de los manglares<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p>Los factores que contribuyen a su desaparici\u00f3n son varios. Entre ellos, est\u00e1n la <strong>tala indiscriminada<\/strong>, la <strong>conversi\u00f3n en zonas camaroneras<\/strong>, las obras de infraestructura vial mal planeada, la ampliaci\u00f3n de la frontera urbana para industrias, centros tur\u00edsticos, y para la agricultura generando contaminaci\u00f3n.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex
