Greenpeace protests against the import of soy from destroyed forest and savannah areas on the cargo ship „Hiroshima Star“ in the Lower Weser. They paint „Climate Crime“ on the hull of the freighter loaded with soy from Brazil and unroll large banners from the cranes in the port at end destination Brake. Banner reads: ‚Klima-Notstand. Soya-Futter zerstoert Waelder!‘ (Climate Emergency. Soy Feed Destroys Forests!).
The environmental activists make it clear that the import of soy feed for mass livestock farming will further aggravate the climate crisis when valuable ecosystems that can bind carbon dioxide disappear.
