And ratification needs to happen as soon as possible. It is a matter of urgency that the Global Ocean Treaty come into effect. There is no time to wait. China\u2019s ratification will be a concrete step both in advancing its own ocean sustainability as well as catalyzing the global process of establishing ocean protections. The Global Ocean Treaty will fill the gaps in existing marine governance, including establishing a global network of marine protected areas.
