The region is home to not only the chimpanzee, but also the forest elephant, rare primates such as the endangered drill and the critically endangered Preuss\u2019s red colobus monkey, plus a number of fish species, many endemic to the region.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The FLEGT Action Plan was established in 2003 as an innovative first attempt by the EU to curb illegal logging and related trade, promote sustainable forest management, and address some of the underlying causes of deforestation and forest degradation. [&#8230;] Nonetheless, illegal logging remains a persistent problem across the world.
