We\u2019ve got you covered.<br><\/p>\n\n<p><strong>What does climate action look like?<\/strong><br><br><\/p>\n\n<p>The EU climate law must:<br><\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Cut greenhouse gas emissions by at least 65% by 2030 and reach net-zero emissions by 2040, <a href=\"https:\/\/interactive.carbonbrief.org\/impacts-climate-change-one-point-five-degrees-two-degrees\/?utm_source=web&amp;utm_campaign=Redirect\">in line with science<\/a>. And review these targets every five years.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Ban all subsidies, tax breaks, advertising and other benefits for fossil fuels like coal, oil and gas.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Scrap or change any EU policies that aren\u2019t consistent with the EU\u2019s climate objectives.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Set up an independent scientific body to scrutinise the EU\u2019s targets, and its plans and policies to tackle the climate emergency.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li> Ensure polluting companies and industries pay for the necessary changes, not the most vulnerable in society. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n<p>The coal, oil and gas industries are desperately trying to kill EU climate action. Don\u2019t leave this to them. <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/info\/law\/better-regulation\/initiatives\/ares-2020-119545\/feedback\/add_en?p_id=6229246\"><strong>Tell the European Commission what you\u2019d like Europe to do to act on climate NOW<\/strong><\/a>.<br><\/p>\n\n<p>Together, we can make sure our voices are heard and Europe does all it can for a healthier, cleaner and safer planet.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Why should you act now?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>From the Australian bushfires to record flooding in Southern and Central Europe, climate breakdown is already costing lives and destroying nature.
