{"id":3895,"date":"2020-05-18T11:28:24","date_gmt":"2020-05-18T09:28:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/eu-unit\/?p=3895"},"modified":"2020-05-18T11:29:32","modified_gmt":"2020-05-18T09:29:32","slug":"president-von-der-leyen-eu-farm-to-fork-plan-must-cut-meat-and-dairy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/eu-unit\/issues\/nature-food\/3895\/president-von-der-leyen-eu-farm-to-fork-plan-must-cut-meat-and-dairy\/","title":{"rendered":"President von der Leyen: EU Farm to Fork plan must cut meat and dairy"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-file\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/static\/planet4-eu-unit-stateless\/2020\/05\/20200518-letter-President-von-der-Leyen-Farm-to-Fork.pdf\">Read the full letter here.<\/a><\/div>\n\n<p>It is no exaggeration to say that intensive animal farming is the largest single problem with the global food system, and it would be extremely remiss to ignore this in the EU&#8217;s Farm to Fork plan \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/eu-unit\/issues\/nature-food\/3892\/will-the-commission-get-to-the-meat-of-the-food-and-nature-crisis\/\">set for publication on 20 May<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<p>Overwhelming scientific evidence shows the impacts that industrial livestock production has on<a href=\"https:\/\/onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/abs\/10.1111\/j.1365-2486.2012.02786.x\"> climate<\/a>, the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ipcc.ch\/srccl\/\"> environment<\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thelancet.com\/commissions\/EAT\"> human health<\/a>, and the<a href=\"https:\/\/link.springer.com\/article\/10.1007\/s40572-015-0061-0\"> welfare of rural communities<\/a>.
