EU climate targets disregard science and they ignore the role of farming policies and the destruction of nature in driving up emissions and fuelling disease. Vaccines can still save lives today, but they won\u2019t prevent future pandemics and they can\u2019t stop climate breakdown. Politicians need to recognise that protecting people means protecting nature \u2013 and they need to act on it.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC3367654\/pdf\/05-0997.pdf\">An estimated 73%<\/a> of all emerging infectious diseases originate in animals, and <a href=\"https:\/\/medicalxpress.com\/news\/2019-12-domestic-animals-link-virus-humans.html\">livestock species<\/a> transmit an extraordinary number of viruses, like coronaviruses and influenza viruses, to humans.
