This letter contradicts <a href=\"https:\/\/www.indy100.com\/news\/zelensky-ukraine-russian-fuel-video\">previous statements by President Zelensky<\/a> asking the EU to stop funding the war in Ukraine by buying Russian fuels, including gas and nuclear. Since the war started, the Russian Federation has received almost <a href=\"https:\/\/energyandcleanair.org\/publication\/russian-fossil-exports-first-100-days\">a billion euro a day from selling fossil fuels alone<\/a>, with \u20ac57 billion coming from the EU.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"681\" src=\"https:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/static\/planet4-eu-unit-stateless\/2022\/07\/fd0806ad-claire-4-1024x681.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-46317\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/static\/planet4-eu-unit-stateless\/2022\/07\/fd0806ad-claire-4-1024x681.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/static\/planet4-eu-unit-stateless\/2022\/07\/fd0806ad-claire-4-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/static\/planet4-eu-unit-stateless\/2022\/07\/fd0806ad-claire-4-768x511.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/static\/planet4-eu-unit-stateless\/2022\/07\/fd0806ad-claire-4-1536x1022.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/static\/planet4-eu-unit-stateless\/2022\/07\/fd0806ad-claire-4-510x340.jpg 510w, https:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/static\/planet4-eu-unit-stateless\/2022\/07\/fd0806ad-claire-4.jpg 2000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n<p>The European Parliament will vote on 6 July on whether to reject the inclusion of fossil gas and nuclear energy in the EU taxonomy of sustainable investments. To block the inclusion of gas and nuclear, 353 MEPs must vote against it.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Greenpeace EU sustainable finance campaigner Ariadna Rodrigo <\/strong>said:<em> \u201cWe stand with the people of Ukraine, displaced and suffering human rights violations at the hands of the Russian army. President Zelensky has repeatedly asked the EU to stop buying Russian fuels, filling Putin\u2019s war chest and subsidising the horrors unfolding in Ukraine. Labelling fossil gas and nuclear energy as \u2018green\u2019 would unlock massive funding for these polluting technologies, money that would be funnelled to Putin.
