Oikeistopopulismin nousu, teollisuuden hankkeet kansalaisyhteiskunnan rapauttamiseksi ja vihreit\u00e4 muotoja ottava kolonialismi haastavat alkuper\u00e4iskansojen oikeuksia eri puolilla maailmaa. Yhdysvalloissa \u00f6ljy-yhti\u00f6 yritt\u00e4\u00e4 pyyhki\u00e4 historiankirjoista Standing Rockin protestiliikkeen aktivistit. Suomessa tuulivoima-, kaivos-, ja matkailuhankkeet tunkeutuvat saamelaisten maisemaan ja maaper\u00e4\u00e4n. <\/p>\n\n

Our Land, Our Future \u2013 Indigenous Rights In Trumpian Times<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

What is the status of Indigenous rights in an age of right-wing populism and green colonialism?<\/p>\n\n

The rise of right-wing populism, the efforts of industrial and commercial powers to erode civil society, and colonialism disguised as ”green” threaten the rights of Indigenous peoples across the globe. In the US an oil giant is trying to erase the legacy of the Standing Rock protest movement. In Finland, wind and mining projects, together with tourism, infringe upon S\u00e1mi lands. Meanwhile, the Trump administration has its eyes on Greenland, continuing a long tradition of neglecting the autonomy of the locals. Where can we find the words, actions, and movements to turn the tide?<\/p>\n\n

Join us At Bar T\u00ffpo on 15th of May, for a panel discussion with:
– Joseph White Eyes, activist from the historic Standing Rock protest movement.
– Pauliina Feodoroff, S\u00e1mi film and theater director.
– Teivo Teivainen, Professor of World Politics at the University of Helsinki.
