New Delhi 19th December 2017 |<\/strong> Amid the National health emergency faced by India as a country due to hazardous air pollution levels Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change\u2019s response to a question in Rajya Sabha on Monday raises hopes of breathable India in near future. Greenpeace India welcomes the National Clean Air Program (NCAP) formulated to fight air pollution crisis in India. <\/p>\n

Welcoming this move by the MOEF&CC, Sunil Dahiya, Air Pollution Campaigner, Greenpeace India said \u201cNational Clean Air Program (NCAP) is an important first step towards ensuring clean air for India. To make it truly national, it\u2019s important to have a measurable, focused and precise targets with clear timelines and demonstrable accountability towards public health\u201d <\/p>\n

Calling it as people\u2019s victory, Dahiya further said Our reports such as \u201cAirpocalypse<\/a>\u201d highlighted the need to act nationally on air pollution followed by the concrete demand for National Clean Air Action Plan through various other letters, statements, representations and reports such as \u201cClean Air Action Plan: The Way Forward<\/a>\u201d over past couple of years. Multiple other partners and organizations along with Greenpeace India coming together on the issue and raising the need for National Clean Air Action Plan across the country made it possible that the Government take steps forward to safeguard \u201cCitizen\u2019s right to Breathe Clean Air\u201d.<\/p>\n
