In fact, the livestock industry alone contributes as much to climate change as all the cars, trains, planes and ships in the world combined.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Eating less meat and more veggies is not only good for the planet. It\u2019s also good for our health. Studies show that people who eat more meals rich in vegetables and plant proteins like beans and lentils reduce their risk of heart disease and cancer \u2014 living longer, healthier lives than those with meat-heavy diets. So trying is basically a win-win. It might sound difficult at first, but it\u2019s not. From the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalgeographic.org\/encyclopedia\/great-pacific-garbage-patch\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Great Pacific Garbage Patch<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, to the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/international\/publication\/16899\/microplastics-in-the-antarctic\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">remote waters of the Antarctic<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, plastic is everywhere. It\u2019s even in the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/environment\/plastic-microparticles-fish-flesh-eaten-humans-food-chain-mackerel-anchovy-mullet-a7860726.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">fish<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalgeographic.com\/environment\/2018\/10\/microplastics-found-90-percent-table-salt-sea-salt\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">salt<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> we eat. We cannot continue the way we are living anymore. So <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/international\/act\/lets-end-the-age-of-plastic\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">here are several things you can do<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in your daily lives to reduce your plastic footprint, and help those around you to do the same.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But the burden shouldn\u2019t fall only on us. A recent report shows that Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Unilever and Nestl\u00e9 are among the companies that have polluted the planet the most. So we must <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/act.greenpeace.org\/page\/21680\/petition\/1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">tell them that we won\u2019t accept it anymore<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Riding your bike to work is not only a zero-emission transportation method, but also a great way to exercise and keep yourself active. But if it that is not possible for you, that\u2019s ok. Take public transportation instead.
