{"id":22190,"date":"2019-06-05T08:30:19","date_gmt":"2019-06-05T08:30:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/international\/?p=22190"},"modified":"2026-07-06T15:50:57","modified_gmt":"2026-07-06T13:50:57","slug":"this-world-environment-day-needs-action-not-celebration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/international\/story\/22190\/this-world-environment-day-needs-action-not-celebration\/","title":{"rendered":"This World Environment Day needs action, not celebration"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This World Environment Day we face the reality that more than <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/news-room\/detail\/02-05-2018-9-out-of-10-people-worldwide-breathe-polluted-air-but-more-countries-are-taking-action\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">9 out of 10 people<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">globally are breathing unsafe air. <\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Air pollution is a global health and environmental crisis affecting everyone one of us &#8211; every living species which breathes air. So, is it really a day to celebrate? Make June 5 the day you demand your right to breathe clean, healthy air. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/international\/act\/clean-air-now\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Demand access to clean energy and a greener environment to live in.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We frequently cannot see the pollution in the air, but its impact on people\u2019s health is visible and cannot be ignored any longer. If the pollution in the air was visible, the world wouldn&#8217;t be as pretty.
