Instead of plotting ways to end our peaceful action, they should hammer out a plan to give their workers and the communities that depend on them a future. Because there’s no future in an oil industry that’s fuelling a climate emergency threatening millions of lives around the world.

“BP’s rig is heading for a dead end, and Scottish jobs and businesses should not be dragged along with it. Scotland’s economic future lies not in a hole at the bottom of the North Sea, but with the renewable technologies in which the nation is already a world leader. Business as usual is not an option. BP has to stop drilling for more oil and start a 180-degree pivot towards renewables.”

ENDS

Photo and Video regularly updated here: https://media.greenpeace.org/collection/27MZIFJ82ALXR

Contacts:

Greenpeace UK news team, +44 (0)20 7865 8255, press.uk@greenpeace.org

Greenpeace International Press Desk, +31 (0)20 718 2470 (available 24 hours), pressdesk.int@greenpeace.org

Scotland’s economic future lies not in a hole at the bottom of the North Sea, but with the renewable technologies in which the nation is already a world leader.

{"_planet4_optimize_post_is_variant":false,"_planet4_optimize_experiment_name":"","_planet4_optimize_variant_name":"
p4_og_title":"","p4_og_description":"","p4_og_image":"","p4_og_image_id":"","p4_seo_canonical_url":"","p4_campaign_name":"","p4_local_project":"","p4_basket_name":"","p4_department":"

69,99
19,87],"p4-page-type":[98
post-22571","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-energy","category-ships","tag-arctic-sunrise","tag-oil","p4-page-type-press-release
["GET
