I know this is not unique, but you\u2019d be surprised at the number of decisions that are made without any consideration of the negatives.<\/span><\/p>\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is, I\u2019m afraid, the case with BP.<\/span><\/p>\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The British oil company has been planning to drill for oil in the Amazon Reef region in Brazil since 2013. It must be kept safe from industry if we want healthy oceans.<\/span><\/p>\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To keep the Amazon Reef safe we need two things:<\/span><\/p>\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A bold Global Ocean Treaty &#8211; a legal instrument to protect the high seas of this amazing region from the reckless plans of the BPs of the world.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That BP urgently withdraws their oil drilling plans there before it\u2019s too late.<\/span><\/li><\/ol>\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We won\u2019t be able to protect the oceans if we don\u2019t stop BP. <a href=\"https:\/\/act.greenpeace.org\/page\/40938\/petition\/1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Take action now<\/a>, and help us tell everyone to protect the stunning mega-fauna and richness of this region!<\/span><\/p>\n\n<p><em>Silvia D\u00edaz P\u00e9rez is the Engagement Lead of Amazon Reef project.<\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"EmptyMessage\">Block content is empty.
