Check the block&#8217;s settings or remove it.<\/div>\n<p>We are in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/international\/story\/49043\/climate-crisis-fires-burning-amazon-turkey-california\/\">the middle of a climate crisis<\/a>, this is not breaking news, and it\u2019s no revelation to say that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/international\/press-release\/47934\/historic-verdict-in-climate-case-against-shell\/\">the fossil fuels industry is responsible<\/a>. But, while scientists keep warning of the need to rapidly cut greenhouse gas emissions, fossil fuel companies and colluding politicians are still trying to cheat us with <a href=\"https:\/\/theconversation.com\/climate-scientists-concept-of-net-zero-is-a-dangerous-trap-157368\">empty promises, dangerous lies and false solutions<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<p>Big Tobacco lied to keep selling cancer sticks. Big Oil lied to keep profiting from climate-wrecking fossil fuels. Both use mega marketing budgets to <a href=\"https:\/\/gizmodo.com\/facebook-is-awash-in-oil-money-1847424514\">mess with our minds<\/a> and push their lies into public spaces \u2013 from art exhibitions to sporting events and <a href=\"https:\/\/gizmodo.com\/the-abcs-of-big-oil-why-big-oil-infiltrated-schools-1847734544\">even schools<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">BREAKING: 80+ activists use fossil fuel ads from all over Europe to block <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Shell?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Shell<\/a>\u2019s Rotterdam refinery.<br><br>\u201cWe\u2019re here today to lift the veil on the fossil fuel industry, and confront them with their own propaganda.&quot; <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/FossilFreeRevolution?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#FossilFreeRevolution<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/9Efe5N6JtL\">https:\/\/t.co\/9Efe5N6JtL<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Greenpeace PressDesk (@greenpeacepress) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/greenpeacepress\/status\/1444952463300235267?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 4, 2021<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The strategy of fossil fuel companies is clear: deny, deceive and delay<\/h3>\n\n<p>Oil and gas companies like Shell, BP, Exxon and TotalEnergies have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/environment\/2021\/jun\/30\/climate-crimes-oil-and-gas-environment\">known for decades the damage their business causes<\/a>. With the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/fossilfreerevolution\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/fossilfreerevolution\">European Citizens Initiative<\/a> we can change the law to achieve a historic ban on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/environment\/2021\/sep\/11\/greenwash-fossil-fuels-ad-agencies\">fossil fuel advertising<\/a> and sponsorships, opening the door for similar cases around the world.<\/p>\n\n<p>That would mean no more advertisements for fossil fuels, as well as private transport (such as yachts, planes and cars) powered by fossil fuels. No more advertisements from any company extracting, refining, supplying, distributing or selling fossil fuels. No more fossil fuel sponsorships or trademarks or commercial names used for fossil fuels.
