According to oil analysts, that means the oil field will never be built. In 2021, the Central Jakarta District Court ruled that the Indonesian government was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/southeastasia\/press\/44679\/seven-indonesias-state-officials-found-negligent-for-jakarta-air-pollution\/\">guilty of failing to uphold the citizens\u2019 right to clean air.<\/a> The historic decision obliges the government to establish ambient air quality standards that can protect vulnerable groups and develop air pollution control strategies that involve the public.<\/p>\n\n<p>The President and the other defendants had submitted an appeal but in October this year, the high judicial council <a href=\"https:\/\/putusan3.mahkamahagung.go.id\/direktori\/putusan\/zaed4df847ecefe2933a313534373037.html\">upheld the initial decision<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p>This is a second win of the air pollution lawsuit, a legal way for citizens and their right to breathe healthy air.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">France &#8211; Head of State calls for ban on deep sea mining<\/h3>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/static\/planet4-international-stateless\/2022\/11\/aac3bd32-gp1swwus-1024x683.jpg\" title=\"Stickering action during the One Ocean Summit in Brest, France.\" alt=\"Stickering action during the One Ocean Summit in Brest, France.\" class=\"wp-image-57049\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/static\/planet4-international-stateless\/2022\/11\/aac3bd32-gp1swwus-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/static\/planet4-international-stateless\/2022\/11\/aac3bd32-gp1swwus-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/static\/planet4-international-stateless\/2022\/11\/aac3bd32-gp1swwus-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/static\/planet4-international-stateless\/2022\/11\/aac3bd32-gp1swwus-510x340.jpg 510w, https:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/static\/planet4-international-stateless\/2022\/11\/aac3bd32-gp1swwus.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Greenpeace France activists stuck \u2018Don\u2019t Look Down\u2019 spoof movie posters around Brest during the One Ocean Summit in February 2022, to highlight the French President\u2019s refusal to commit to concrete action to protect the oceans.<div class=\"credit icon-left\"> \u00a9 Micha Patault \/ Greenpeace <\/div><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n<p>French President Emmanuel Macron announced at COP27 that he&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenpeace.fr\/espace-presse\/statement-on-macron-announcement-against-deep-sea-mining-at-cop27\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">supports a ban on deep sea mining<\/a>.&nbsp;This means&nbsp;France joins the growing number of countries opposed to deep sea mining and calling to stop this destructive activity before it starts.
