The levels of biodiversity loss are alarming and threaten the stability of the ecosystems on which hundreds of species and people depend. In Colombia, it is estimated that around 1,200 species are threatened. Joint action to face both crises is crucial and urgent, because nature does not wait, and neither does climate action. That is why it is so important that during this COP there are decisions that strengthen the synergies between climate action and biodiversity action.”

ENDS

Notes:

[1] The International Day Against Climate Change is commemorated every October 24 to alert about the devastating effects of climate change on the planet, as a consequence of human action.

Contacts:

Gaby Flores, Communications Coordinator, Greenpeace International, cflores@greenpeace.org, +12144543871

Greenpeace International Press Desk, pressdesk.int@greenpeace.org, +31 (0)20 718 2470 (available 24 hours)

Follow @greenpeacepress on X/Twitter for our latest international press releases.

Greenpeace Andino activists and volunteers put together a giant puzzle in Cali to send a message to UN Biodiversity COP16 delegates.

{"_planet4_optimize_post_is_variant":false,"_planet4_optimize_experiment_name":"","_planet4_optimize_variant_name":"
p4_og_title":"","p4_og_description":"","p4_og_image":"","p4_og_image_id":"","p4_seo_canonical_url":"","p4_campaign_name":"","p4_local_project":"","p4_basket_name":"","p4_department":"

70
140],"p4-page-type":[98
post-70844","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-nature","tag-cop16","p4-page-type-press-release
["GET
