Luxemburg<\/em>, 5. Dezember 2023 – Greenpeace Niederlande hat heute eine <\/strong>Studie<\/strong><\/a> ver\u00f6ffentlicht, die untersucht, wie Europas f\u00fchrende \u00d6l- und Gasunternehmen Menschenleben aufs Spiel setzen.<\/strong> Aus dieser Untersuchung geht hervor, dass bis zur Jahrhundertwende etwa 360.000 Menschen vorzeitig an den Folgen der globalen Erw\u00e4rmung sterben k\u00f6nnten. Grund daf\u00fcr sind die Treibhausgasemissionen, die von neun europ\u00e4ischen \u00d6l- und Gasunternehmen allein im Jahr 2022 ver\u00f6ffentlicht wurden.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Die anl\u00e4sslich der COP28 ver\u00f6ffentlichte Studie greift die von dem amerikanischen Forscher R. Daniel Bressler entwickelte Methode der “CO2-<\/sub>Sterbekosten” auf und st\u00fctzt sich auf die CO2<\/sub>-Bilanzen, die neun f\u00fchrende europ\u00e4ische \u00d6l- und Gasunternehmen f\u00fcr das Jahr 2022 ver\u00f6ffentlicht haben: Shell, TotalEnergies, BP, Equinor, Eni, Repsol, OMV, Orlen und Wintershall Dea. Insgesamt berichteten diese Unternehmen im Jahr 2022 einen Aussto\u00df von 2,7 Milliarden Tonnen CO2<\/sub>e [1]. Ausgehend von diesen Daten zeigen die gesch\u00e4tzten und zugleich konservativen Berechnungen von Greenpeace Niederlande, dass diese Unternehmen bis zum Ende des Jahrhunderts f\u00fcr mindestens 360.000 vorzeitige Todesf\u00e4lle verantwortlich sein k\u00f6nnten. Diese Anzahl von Todesf\u00e4llen ist zur\u00fcckzuf\u00fchren auf die globale Erw\u00e4rmung, die alleine auf den Emissionen dieser neun Unternehmen f\u00fcr das Jahr 2022 beruht, sowie auf die dadurch verursachten extremen Temperaturschwankungen [2]. <\/p>\n\n

Diese Todesf\u00e4lle werden sich jedes Jahr vervielfachen, sofern die Emissionen durch fossile Brennstoffe nicht drastisch reduziert werden.<\/p>\n\n

“Der Ausstieg aus fossilen Brennstoffen ist eine Frage von Leben und Tod. Die Verantwortung der fossilen Industrie f\u00fcr den Klimawandel ist erwiesen, und mit dem Fortschreiten der Wissenschaft werden seine schrecklichen Auswirkungen in Bezug auf die menschliche Sterblichkeit immer offensichtlicher. Dennoch f\u00f6rdern diese multinationalen Konzerne weiterhin fossile Energietr\u00e4ger, um ihre Rekordgewinne zu sichern, ungeachtet der Millionen von Menschen, die Jahr f\u00fcr Jahr vorzeitig sterben k\u00f6nnten, insbesondere im globalen S\u00fcden, der am st\u00e4rksten gef\u00e4hrdet ist. Unsere Regierungen m\u00fcssen sich f\u00fcr ein Verbot aller neuen fossilen Projekte einsetzen und die Industrie dazu zwingen, ihre Emissionen ab sofort drastisch zu senken<\/em>“, kommentiert Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Meys, Kampagner bei Greenpeace Luxemburg.<\/p>\n\n

Greenpeace fordert die Staats- und Regierungschefs aller L\u00e4nder auf der COP28 auf, sich auf einen schnellen, fairen und gerechten Ausstieg aus Kohle, \u00d6l und Gas zu einigen, alle neuen Projekte zur F\u00f6rderung fossiler Energietr\u00e4ger zu verbieten und fossile Unternehmen zu besteuern<\/a>, um den Kampf gegen den Klimawandel und die Verluste und Sch\u00e4den durch Extremwetterereignisse zu finanzieren. Industriestaaten, die in der Vergangenheit gro\u00dfe Mengen an Treibhausgasen zu verantworten haben, m\u00fcssen nun ihren gerechten Beitrag leisten.<\/p>\n\n

[1] CO2<\/sub>e steht f\u00fcr CO2<\/sub>-\u00c4quivalent und ist eine Einheit, die vom IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) eingef\u00fchrt wurde. Verschiedene Gase haben nicht den gleichen Einfluss auf den Treibhauseffekt und eine unterschiedliche Lebensdauer in der Atmosph\u00e4re. Die Einheit vereinheitlicht und misst daher ihre klimatischen Auswirkungen.<\/p>\n\n

[2] Die hier angegebene Zahl der vorzeitigen Todesf\u00e4lle entspricht einer konservativen Sch\u00e4tzung und k\u00f6nnte aus mehreren Gr\u00fcnden h\u00f6chstwahrscheinlich deutlich nach oben korrigiert werden. Beispielsweise ber\u00fccksichtigt diese Zahl nur Todesf\u00e4lle, die durch zuk\u00fcnftige Temperaturextreme verursacht werden k\u00f6nnten, und bewertet nicht die menschlichen Kosten anderer Auswirkungen des Klimawandels wie Extremwetterereignisse (\u00dcberschwemmungen, D\u00fcrren, Waldbr\u00e4nde, St\u00fcrme) oder die Luftverschmutzung durch die Verbrennung fossiler Brennstoffe.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
