Mindestens 28 Menschen haben bisher ihr Leben bei den Br\u00e4nden in Australien verloren, Millionen von Tieren sind den Flammen zum Opfer gefallen und eine Fl\u00e4che von elf Millionen Hektar wurde zerst\u00f6rt. Die Luftqualit\u00e4t in Sydney, Canberra und Brisbane verschlechtert sich t\u00e4glich, worunter vor allem junge und \u00e4ltere Menschen, sowie an Asthma Erkrankte leiden. Das ist die traurige Bilanz der bisherigen Buschbr\u00e4nde in Australien und es ist noch nicht vorbei.<\/p>\n\n

Seit Oktober w\u00fcten unkontrollierbare Feuer auf der anderen Seite der Welt, bedrohen Mensch, Tier und deren Lebensr\u00e4ume. \u00dcblicherweise beginnt in Australien die Saison der Buschbr\u00e4nde erst im November, aufgrund des Klimawandels beginnt sie allerdings noch fr\u00fcher, h\u00e4lt l\u00e4nger an und ist umso verheerender und unvorhersehbarer. Ein ausschlaggebender Faktor der Br\u00e4nde ist die ausgedehnte D\u00fcrreperiode, von der ein Gro\u00dfteil von Queensland und New South Wales betroffen ist, was wiederum die perfekten Konditionen f\u00fcr gro\u00dffl\u00e4chige Buschbr\u00e4nde schafft. <\/p>\n\n

Dieses Ungl\u00fcck ist ein Weckruf f\u00fcr unsere Regierungen, die Klimakrise endlich ernst zu nehmen und k\u00fcnftig die weltweit steigenden Treibhausgasemissionen dringend zu reduzieren. Ein Zusammenhang zwischen diesen katastrophalen Br\u00e4nden und der globalen Erderw\u00e4rmung kann nicht geleugnet werden. <\/p>\n\n

Die australische Regierung unterst\u00fctzt die Kohleindustrie und treibt dadurch die Klimaerw\u00e4rmung weiter an. Um den Klimawandel und daraus resultierende Katastrophen wie die Feuer in Australien zu bek\u00e4mpfen, muss der \u00c4ra der fossilen Energien endlich ein Ende gesetzt werden. Auch die Luxemburger Regierung ist, was die Finanzierung von Klimakillern angeht, inkonsequent. Beispielsweise investiert der staatliche Pensionsfonds (FDC) die Sozialbeitr\u00e4ge aller Arbeitnehmerinnen und Arbeitnehmer aus dem privaten Sektor in klimasch\u00e4digende Kohle-, Erd\u00f6l- und Gasunternehmen und beteiligt sich damit wissentlich an der Finanzierung der Klimakrise. Ein Ansatz, wie die Menschen in Luxemburg aktiv dagegen protestieren k\u00f6nnen, ist, unsere Petition www.fossilfreepensions.lu<\/a> zu unterst\u00fctzen. Mit dieser Petition wollen wir erreichen, dass die luxemburgische Regierung sich ihrer Verantwortung stellt. Es wird h\u00f6chste Zeit, dass unsere Regierung handelt, die Finanzierung von Klimakillern beendet und im Sinne einer nachhaltigeren Zukunft handelt. Vom Klimawandel bedrohte Menschen, darunter auch die von den Buschbr\u00e4nden betroffenen australischen Familien, verdienen angesichts der dramatischen Situation mehr als nur hohle Absichtserkl\u00e4rungen. <\/p>\n\n
