Ces derniers mois, les mauvaises nouvelles concernant la protection de l\u2019environnement se sont succ\u00e9d\u00e9es au niveau europ\u00e9en. <\/p>\n\n

En effet, bien que la loi contre la d\u00e9forestation import\u00e9e ait \u00e9t\u00e9 vot\u00e9e en avril 2023, plusieurs pays dont deux ministres autrichiens<\/a> font pression pour demander le report de la mise en application de la loi,  pourtant importante pour les droits humains et environnementaux. <\/p>\n\n

En novembre 2023, faute de consensus, le glyphosate \u00e9tait prolong\u00e9 pour une dur\u00e9e suppl\u00e9mentaire de 10 ans<\/a>, malgr\u00e9 les risques av\u00e9r\u00e9s pour la sant\u00e9 et contre la volont\u00e9 d\u2019une majorit\u00e9 de la population europ\u00e9enne<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n

La loi de la restauration de la nature, bien qu\u2019elle n\u2019ait \u00e9t\u00e9 vid\u00e9e d\u2019une partie de sa substance (notamment en termes d\u2019objectifs chiffr\u00e9s et en tenant pas compte) a \u00e9t\u00e9 vot\u00e9e au Parlement europ\u00e9en r\u00e9cemment. C\u2019est une loi tr\u00e8s importante pour inverser la tendance de destruction de la biodiversit\u00e9<\/a>. N\u00e9anmoins, le conseil de l\u2019Union europ\u00e9enne doit encore apporter son adh\u00e9sion, et certains pays qui soutenaient la loi pr\u00e9c\u00e9demment ont chang\u00e9 d\u2019avis<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n

Enfin, la politique agricole commune (PAC) a \u00e9t\u00e9 vid\u00e9e de sa substance en termes de protection environnementale, en un temps record, sans v\u00e9ritable d\u00e9bat d\u00e9mocratique. De nombreuses mesures comme la rotation des cultures, la p\u00e9riode de jach\u00e8re ont disparu<\/a> de cette nouvelle PAC. <\/p>\n\n

C\u2019est pour demander un changement urgent de trajectoire, que la lettre ouverte ci-dessous a \u00e9t\u00e9 cosign\u00e9e par plus d\u2019une centaine d\u2019associations europ\u00e9ennes de protection de l\u2019environnement, de la sant\u00e9, des consommateurs… \u00c0 l\u2019aube d\u2019\u00e9lections europ\u00e9ennes cruciales, il est important de rappeler l\u2019importance de prot\u00e9ger le vivant, de lutter contre le changement climatique pour notre sant\u00e9, notre bien-\u00eatre et des g\u00e9n\u00e9rations futures.<\/p>\n\n

We visited a site that is already under investigation to look at evidence about one particular method of wood theft conducted by the state forestry department in Romania. We learned and measured ourselves how the foresters are underestimating the volume of the trees before they are logged. In that way, a lot more wood is exiting the forest in reality than legal permits officially state.
