Luxembourg, le 30 juillet 2024 – <\/em>En cette p\u00e9riode olympique, Votum Klima [1] suit le marathon du Luxembourg et de la Terre. Parviendront-ils \u00e0 atteindre la ligne d\u2019arriv\u00e9e, soit l\u2019\u00e9quilibre entre l\u2019empreinte des activit\u00e9s humaines et les ressources naturelles g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9es annuellement ?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Le jour du d\u00e9passement de la Terre (earth overshoot day<\/em>) tombe cette ann\u00e9e le 1er<\/sup> ao\u00fbt<\/a>, ce qui constitue une perte d\u2019un jour par rapport \u00e0 2023. Cette date symbolique tombait le 25 d\u00e9cembre en 1971 et n\u2019a fait que progresser dans la mauvaise direction depuis. Concr\u00e8tement, cela signifie que nous avons collectivement \u00e9puis\u00e9 en 7 mois toutes les ressources g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9es par la plan\u00e8te en une ann\u00e9e et que l\u2019humanit\u00e9 vit \u00e0 cr\u00e9dit. <\/p>\n\n

En \u00e9cho \u00e0 l\u2019actualit\u00e9 olympique, Votum Klima a organis\u00e9 une course symbolique entre la  Terre et le Luxembourg pour voir lequel atteindrait la ligne d\u2019arriv\u00e9e, le point d\u2019\u00e9quilibre entre la r\u00e9g\u00e9n\u00e9ration des ressources naturelles et le pr\u00e9l\u00e8vement de celles-ci par l\u2019activit\u00e9 humaine. Malheureusement, ni l\u2019une ni l\u2019autre n\u2019est arriv\u00e9 au bout de l\u2019effort, victimes de pratiques non durables comme la surconsommation, la surutilisation des \u00e9nergies fossiles pour se d\u00e9placer, pour se chauffer\u2026 Le Luxembourg s’est \u00e9croul\u00e9 rapidement, son jour de d\u00e9passement tombant le 20 f\u00e9vrier<\/a> \u2014 soit le premier pays europ\u00e9en \u00e0 atteindre cette limite. La Terre n\u2019a pas non plus atteint la ligne d\u2019arriv\u00e9e, \u00e9chouant donc ce 1er<\/sup> ao\u00fbt 2024. Si la population mondiale vivait comme au Grand-Duch\u00e9, il nous faudrait plus de sept plan\u00e8tes pour survivre.<\/p>\n\n

\u00c0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle mondiale, le constat n\u2019est pas plus brillant. En effet, le mode de vie des pays occidentaux et d\u00e9velopp\u00e9s exerce une pression sur les ressources qui n\u2019est pas durable non plus : au rythme actuel, il faudrait 1,7 plan\u00e8te pour r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 la demande. L\u2019humanit\u00e9 vit de plus en plus \u00e0 cr\u00e9dit tandis que les factures commencent \u00e0 s\u2019accumuler. De nombreuses r\u00e9gions du monde, souvent dans les pays les moins responsables de cette situation, en subissent d\u00e9j\u00e0 les contraintes effroyables : manque d\u2019eau, chaleurs accablantes\u2026 <\/p>\n\n

Par son action, Votum Klima veut tirer la sonnette d\u2019alarme et rappeler l\u2019urgence de repenser notre syst\u00e8me. Dans ses derni\u00e8res revendications<\/a>, la plateforme rappelle que sans changement profond de notre \u00e9conomie, de notre soci\u00e9t\u00e9 et de nos modes de gestion et de gouvernance, la transition \u00e9cologique ne pourra pas aboutir. Ce n\u2019est que par un changement de paradigme, en remettant en cause la croissance \u00e9conomique comme seul \u00e9talon de r\u00e9ussite soci\u00e9tal que nous pourrons r\u00e9soudre les probl\u00e8mes de pollution et d\u2019in\u00e9galit\u00e9s grandissantes.<\/p>\n\n

La pr\u00e9servation des ressources disponibles est un \u00e9l\u00e9ment central pour atteindre un \u00e9quilibre durable. En effet, l\u2019environnement naturel et la biodiversit\u00e9 sont dans un \u00e9tat pr\u00e9occupant, y compris au Luxembourg. Pour d\u00e9velopper la r\u00e9silience des territoires et r\u00e9g\u00e9n\u00e9rer les ressources endommag\u00e9es, un ensemble coh\u00e9rent d\u2019actions politiques ambitieuses et socialement justes sont n\u00e9cessaires, \u00e0 tous les niveaux et dans tous les domaines. Renaturer les milieux aquatiques naturels et les espaces verts, cr\u00e9er des corridors \u00e9cologiques ou encore renforcer la protection juridique de la nature font partie des solutions concr\u00e8tes.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n

Au niveau mondial, l\u2019agriculture industrielle est une cause majeure des probl\u00e8mes environnementaux. Diff\u00e9rentes \u00e9tudes montrent qu\u2019il est possible de nourrir une population croissante tout en respectant l\u2019environnement, \u00e0 condition d\u2019adopter des changements ambitieux dans la consommation (moins de produits d\u2019origine animale et moins de gaspillage alimentaire) et dans la production alimentaire. L\u2019agriculture biologique, l\u2019agro\u00e9cologie, la permaculture et les autres techniques restauratrices des milieux naturels, repr\u00e9sentent des alternatives \u00e0 l\u2019agriculture industrielle, car elles respectent les ressources et les animaux et suivent les cycles naturels.<\/p>\n\n

Les solutions ne manquent pas face \u00e0 l\u2019urgence : d\u00e9veloppement de la circularit\u00e9 de l\u2019\u00e9conomie par le r\u00e9emploi et le partage, sobri\u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique et mobilit\u00e9 partag\u00e9e, font \u00e9galement partie des revendications d\u00e9velopp\u00e9es.<\/p>\n\n

R\u00e9cemment, le gouvernement a pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 le plan national pour le climat et l’\u00e9nergie. Nous sommes sur la bonne voie, mais pour arriver aux objectifs fix\u00e9s, nous avons besoin de mesures plus efficaces en mati\u00e8re de protection du climat, comme le d\u00e9veloppement de la taxe carbone socialement \u00e9quitable ou l’extension des transports publics.<\/p>\n\n

Nous demandons au monde politique de prendre le sujet \u00e0 bras le corps et d\u2019apporter les r\u00e9ponses n\u00e9cessaires afin d\u2019assurer un monde juste et durable, pour permettre au Luxembourg d\u2019atteindre la ligne d\u2019arriv\u00e9e de l\u2019\u00e9quilibre durable. Cela doit devenir le c\u0153ur du d\u00e9veloppement de notre soci\u00e9t\u00e9. <\/p>\n\n
