Le 23 janvier 2020<\/em> – L\u2019oc\u00e9an Antarctique est la derni\u00e8re \u00e9tape de l\u2019exp\u00e9dition Protect The Oceans qui a commenc\u00e9 en avril dernier en Arctique. Comme de nombreux \u00e9cosyst\u00e8mes marins, l\u2019Antarctique est menac\u00e9 par les d\u00e9r\u00e8glements climatiques et les activit\u00e9s de p\u00eache industrielle.<\/p>\n\n

Au bout de la terre<\/h2>\n\n

En 2018, nous nous \u00e9tions d\u00e9j\u00e0 rendu en Antarctique afin de mettre en lumi\u00e8re les ravages de la p\u00eache au krill dont les impacts se ressentent aussi sur les manchots (dont c\u2019est la ressource alimentaire premi\u00e8re). L’industrie du krill s’\u00e9tait alors engag\u00e9e \u00e0 r\u00e9duire son impact sur la biodiversit\u00e9 marine de l\u2019oc\u00e9an Antarctique et \u00e0 soutenir notre de demande de cr\u00e9ation d\u2019un sanctuaire marin dans la r\u00e9gion. Nous souhaitons nous assurer qu\u2019ils tiennent parole.<\/p>\n\n

Une \u00e9quipe de scientifiques, d\u2019artistes, de photographes, accompagne Greenpeace dans sa mission, dont l\u2019objectif est de montrer au monde entier ce qui est en jeu avec la n\u00e9gociation du trait\u00e9 mondial des oc\u00e9ans. L\u2019actrice Marion Cotillard, qui soutient Greenpeace depuis plusieurs ann\u00e9es, est avec nous \u00e0 bord de l\u2019Arctic Sunrise pour faire r\u00e9sonner notre appel pour la sauvegarde des oc\u00e9ans au niveau international.<\/p>\n\n

La mission scientifique consistera notamment \u00e0 \u00e9tudier les colonies de manchots qui vivent dans cette r\u00e9gion, en rassemblant des donn\u00e9es sur l\u2019\u00e9tat de colonies qui n\u2019ont jamais \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9tudi\u00e9es ou ne l\u2019ont pas \u00e9t\u00e9 depuis les ann\u00e9es 1970. Les manchots sont une esp\u00e8ce sentinelle. Les observer fournit des cl\u00e9 de compr\u00e9hension sur la mani\u00e8re dont les changements climatiques et la p\u00eache affectent l\u2019Antarctique.<\/p>\n\n

Trait\u00e9 mondial pour les oc\u00e9ans : la derni\u00e8re ligne droite<\/h2>\n\n

La crise climatique est aussi une crise des oc\u00e9ans. Elle impacte gravement l\u2019ensemble des oc\u00e9ans, dont l\u2019oc\u00e9an Antarctique, o\u00f9 les cons\u00e9quences se concr\u00e9tisent tr\u00e8s rapidement et se r\u00e9percutent sur l\u2019ensemble du globe. Apr\u00e8s plusieurs ann\u00e9es de discussions bien trop longues, nous avons aujourd\u2019hui l\u2019opportunit\u00e9 de pr\u00e9server les oc\u00e9ans de la crise climatique et des activit\u00e9s industrielles qui les menacent.<\/p>\n\n

Les responsables politiques sont dans les derni\u00e8res encablures des n\u00e9gociations onusiennes qui doivent mener \u00e0 l\u2019adoption d\u2019un trait\u00e9 mondial pour les oc\u00e9ans. S\u2019ils se montrent \u00e0 la hauteur et font preuve d\u2019ambition, cela pourrait compl\u00e8tement changer la donne pour les oc\u00e9ans. Pour cela, il est imp\u00e9ratif que ce trait\u00e9 mettent en place des outils qui permettraient de cr\u00e9er au moins 30% de r\u00e9serves marines d\u2019ici 2030.<\/p>\n\n
