Cases of Coronavirus (Covid-19) in Malaysia suddenly spiked up over the last couple of days bringing the tally of total infections in the country to 553 (as of March 16). It is the highest recorded increase of cases in the country since the outbreak began on Jan 25.<\/p>\n\n

This outbreak affects us all, and yet it also calls upon our better judgement to do our part in being mindful of each other and in protecting the health and safety of all those around us. <\/p>\n\n

How many times have we said that \u201ctogether<\/em> we can<\/strong> make a difference\u201d? We always say it, and it’s not a rhetorical phrase. We are more sure today in these sensitive times, in the importance of moving in the same direction where fundamental principles must be protected.<\/p>\n\n

As we write, our country faces difficult days ahead with limitations, countless questions and decisions – but also hard work for those who are committed to dealing with the pandemic at the front lines of this crisis.<\/p>\n\n

We ask ourselves, at a time like this, how can we still be part of our community despite being told to practice social distancing?<\/p>\n\n

– From today onwards, we will be using our social media channels and website to disseminate some information and rules of conduct provided by the WHO<\/a> and the Ministry of Health Malaysia<\/a><\/p>\n\n

– We will also be uploading tips, news updates and other information that might help in regards to this outbreak<\/p>\n\n

– In the same way, we will continue to give you updates and insights on all our campaigns and environmental concerns<\/p>\n\n

For those of us working from home, stay calm, but let us allow our minds the freedom to travel in order to face the next few days with balance and determination.<\/p>\n\n

For those still carrying on with their duties out there, we hope you stay safe and take extra precautions. <\/p>\n\n

One of the mottos we use most often at Greenpeace is ” There are no passengers, just crew”<\/em> – that\u2019s just it, we are all<\/strong> crew members on this earth, not just passengers. Now more than ever, by facing this pandemic and understanding the importance of the responsibility we all have as citizens, we feel the truth of these words. We’re all in this together.  <\/p>\n\n

Together we will face this difficult period and return stronger than before, to protect everyone’s home: our planet. Let\u2019s all work together to remain calm, be positive and fight this outbreak. <\/p>\n\n
