You will join a group of committed dedicated activist across various countries in the Arab world passionate about making our future greener and campaigning to shape the environment movement.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Purpose<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Greenpeace Mediterranean is a regional office for Greenpeace with objectives to tackle environmental problems in the Arab world.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">To lead our regional team within the Arab world, GP Med is seeking an active and engaged leader, who will be part of Programme team within GP Med to lead our operations in the region. The Programme Leader (PL) for Arab Countries will be responsible for leading the delivery and execution of the plans together with a team of experts in the region. The PL set the plans in accordance with the strategic direction collectively formulated by SMT (senior management team) for GP Med, and oversee the staff that will implement it.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong><em>Programme Development and Implementation<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\">\n<li>Identify and propose opportunities to the Programme team that are contributing to the strategic direction and\u00a0providing a vision for the development of GP&#8217;s presence in the Arab World<\/li>\n<li>Lead the planning process for campaign strategies and projects in the Arab world. A task hat will cover campaigns, actions, volunteers, communications and digital development work within the Arab region<\/li>\n<li>Create the environment for the project teams to deliver on clearly set objectives of the projects by working in harmony and efficiently towards reaching their goals<\/li>\n<li>Participate in the project evaluation process and implement the recommendations of the evaluation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong><em>Management and Coordination of Team<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\">\n<li>Line manage all the staff in the region, making sure that they follow the strategic directions set by the Porgramme Director and the SMT (senior management team) when needed<\/li>\n<li>Building the regional team to increase its skills, experience and capacities to deliver on ambitious programme objectives<\/li>\n<li>Participate in the recruitment of staff, make the decision to assign new staff together with the related directors<\/li>\n<li>Oversee the evaluation and learning cycle of staff, in conjunction with the functional departments<\/li>\n<li>Where requested, collaborate with other directors in mediating and resolving conflict involving staff<\/li>\n<li>Ensure ongoing reporting from the various staff members to the office in general<\/li>\n<li>Conduct regular staff meetings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong><em>Budget Management<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\">\n<li>Manage the budgets for the region within the defined plans<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong><em>Legal<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\">\n<li>Share the overall responsibility for the organization\u2019s legal standing in the region. This includes the organization\u2019s registration and subsequent reporting and governance together with the Executive Director.<\/li>\n<li>Be the first and main point of contact for all legal service-providers in the region especially the teams on the ground.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong><em>Representation<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\">\n<li>Represent Greenpeace in public, media, academia and NGOs in the region. This responsibility may be delegated to appropriate staff where and when needed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong><em>Working Culture<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\">\n<li>Maintain overall responsibility for the dynamic and working culture of staff.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure staff members follow Greenpeace core values into their daily work<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong><em>Facilities and Office Operations<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\">\n<li>Oversee the rent\/purchase and keeping of a healthy, effective and environment friendly workspace for staff together with the relevant SMT members<\/li>\n<li>In case of threats to staff security (such as war, unrest or other hostilities),\u00a0function as the security manager for all Arab World staff in close cooperation with the regional head of security and the Executive Director.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong><em>Reporting<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\">\n<li>The PL directly reports to Programme Director of GP Mediterranean<\/li>\n<li>The PL will work very closely with other directors and managers in their respective departments where needs arise.<\/li>\n<li>The PL will also have a direct communication line to the Executive Director in relation to the overall organisational development in the Arab world where we have no presence<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Profile<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong><em>Qualification<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\">\n<li>5 years+ experience in team-management, able to support and guide staff, able to inspire team spirit and ability to resolve conflicts<\/li>\n<li>Experience in preparing detailed and realistic plans and budget management.<\/li>\n<li>Good understanding of fundraising and mainly overseeing fundraising proposals<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong><em>Skills and qualifications<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\">\n<li>Understanding of and ability to analyze political, economic and environmental trends and developments in the Middle-East and Arab region<\/li>\n<li>Excellent communication skills<\/li>\n<li>Result oriented, able to meet deadlines, proactive<\/li>\n<li>Work with sensitive information<\/li>\n<li>Project management skills<\/li>\n<li>Experience in working in a cross-cultural environment, able to deal with challenging situations<\/li>\n<li>Ability to travel to countries in the region<\/li>\n<li>Ability to lead a remote team<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fluent in Arabic and English<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Key competencies<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\">\n<li>Interpersonal relationship<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge sharing<\/li>\n<li>Values diversity<\/li>\n<li>Innovation<\/li>\n<li>Work under pressure<\/li>\n<li>Decision making<\/li>\n<li>Planning &amp; Organizing<\/li>\n<li>Strategic Orientation<\/li>\n<li>Achievement<\/li>\n<li>Commitment to Greenpeace\u2019s core values in response to environmental and peace issues through non-violent direct action-led campaigning in line with its mission.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>To apply:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Please send cover letter, and resume to hr.gpmed@greenpeace.org.
