OVERALL PURPOSE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

The senior accountant is responsible for overseeing and executing various accounting tasks and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and best practices. The post holder will help with the accounting functions of Greenpeace MENA. This includes tasks such as assisting with the preparation of reports, processing invoices and payments, managing accounts payable and receivable, maintaining records, doing financial controls, and coordinating with other departments to ensure that all relevant tasks are completed accurately and on time.<\/p>\n\n

RESPONSIBILITIES<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Financial Reporting<\/strong>: Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting principles and company policies. Provide donors with timely and accurate financial reporting while adhering to funding agreements.<\/p>\n\n

Bookkeeping<\/strong>: support the accountant in preparing and recording financial transactions.<\/p>\n\n

General Ledger Management<\/strong>: Ensure that all financial transactions, journal entries, and adjustments are properly recorded.<\/p>\n\n

Month-end and Year-end Close<\/strong>: Oversee the month-end and year-end closing procedures, ensuring that all necessary activities and reconciliations are completed promptly and accurately.<\/p>\n\n

Financial Analysis<\/strong>: Conduct a thorough financial analysis to identify trends, discrepancies, and potential for cost- or revenue-saving measures. Provide insights and recommendations to management based on analysis.<\/p>\n\n

Financial controls:<\/strong>  Assist the Finance Manager in conducting regular financial controls and monitoring the accuracy of accounting entries and payroll payments. <\/p>\n\n

Budgeting and Forecasting<\/strong>: Assist the finance manager to develop annual budgets and take part in forecasting activities in collaboration with other departments. Monitor actual performance against budgeted figures and provide explanations for variances.<\/p>\n\n

Audit Support<\/strong>: Coordinate with internal and external auditors during financial audits. Prepare required schedules, documentation, and responses to audit inquiries.<\/p>\n\n

Compliance and Taxation<\/strong>: Ensure compliance with local and foreign regulations related to taxation and financial reporting.<\/p>\n\n

Financial Systems<\/strong>: Utilize and maintain accounting software effectively to streamline financial operations and reporting.<\/p>\n\n

Collaborative Fundraising: <\/strong>Coordinate with the fundraising team to gather financial data for donor reporting requirements<\/p>\n\n
