Greenpeace Middle East and North Africa (MENA) stands in solidarity with the people of the Gulf countries, Iraq, and Jordan who are affected by the escalating violence in the region. We call for the protection of civilians and for full respect of international law, and an immediate cessation of hostilities from all parties.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n

We are deeply concerned by the intensifying cycles of attacks, which are placing civilians at growing risk. We express deep concern over the escalating tensions and the persistence of these attacks, which threaten to further destabilize our region.<\/p>\n\n

We also condemn attacks on oil and gas infrastructure in the region. Targeting such infrastructure endangers civilians, threatens essential services, and carries serious environmental, health, and regional security consequences. Repeated strikes on energy infrastructure and industrial complexes are emitting hazardous smoke and particulate matter, polluting the air, land, and water throughout the area. The emissions from fires are causing both immediate and long-term damage to human health. <\/p>\n\n

Greenpeace MENA is also concerned about attacks on desalination plants, which are vital for Gulf countries and provide the majority of freshwater in an extremely arid region. In many Gulf states, such as Kuwait, Oman, and Saudi Arabia, between 70% and 90% of drinking water comes from desalination. <\/p>\n\n

At this critical moment, Greenpeace MENA reaffirms the importance of collective stability in our region. We remain firmly committed to peace, stability, and regional security. We call unequivocally for the protection of civilians, full respect for international law, and an immediate cessation of hostilities. We support all efforts and measures aimed at preventing further escalation and restoring calm.<\/p>\n\n

People across the region deserve safety, dignity, and a future free from recurring cycles of conflict and suffering.<\/p>\n\n
