If we act now and show the Government how many people want action, together we can halt all new dairy conversions and put an end to further dairy expansion.

Please send an email to the Environment Minister, David Parker calling for an end to dairy expansion.

Use your own words and always be polite - don’t give him an excuse to ignore you!

Here are some things you might like to include in your email

  • There are already too many cows for our rivers and our climate to cope with - creating new industrial dairy farms will only make things worse.
  • We urgently need the Government to step in and stop industrial dairying from invading the iconic Mackenzie country.
  • Only a nationwide ban on new dairy conversions can save our rivers and save the Mackenzie.
  • There are already too many cows for our rivers and our climate to cope with - creating new industrial dairy farms will only make things worse.
  • Mr Parker I know you are looking at making stronger water regulations under the NPS (National Policy Statement). In those new rules I would like you to include a ban on new dairy conversions and an end to further intensification of livestock farming.
  • Stopping new conversions and intensification is just the start. I also want to see this Government support those who are farming in a regenerative way, improving not degrading our environment.
  • For the sake of our rivers, our climate and the unique and precious Mackenzie country, I call on you to stop all new dairy conversions and intensification of existing livestock farming by making them both prohibited activities, effective immediately, in the National Policy Statement for Freshwater.
