Mia Manuelita Cumba Mascari\u00f1as-Green, a staunch environmental lawyer and defender of women\u2019s and children\u2019s rights. Greenpeace calls on the authorities to swiftly bring the perpetrators to justice.<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cThose who\u00a0cause\u00a0environmental destruction are resorting to\u00a0savage\u00a0measures and deplorable acts to stop communities and\u00a0people\u00a0who are\u00a0standing up\u00a0to protect our\u00a0imperiled environment\u00a0and the very ecosystems that support\u00a0\u00a0the lives and livelihoods of our people. Since 2010, the number of environmental defenders who have been killed is nearing a hundred. Thirty-three were killed in 2015 alone.* We\u00a0cannot\u00a0allow this to go on!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is our duty as Filipinos to\u00a0fight against this\u00a0culture of impunity.\u00a0We must stand up against injustice, savagery, and the use of violence to silence those who are working to make this world a better place.\u00a0 Let our grief and our outrage at such horrifying acts be heard.
