Together with seven other plaintiffs from around the world, they hope to establish the criminal liability of TotalEnergies for their contribution to climate change<div class=\"credit icon-left\"> \u00a9 JM Sagum \/ Greenpeace<\/div><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n<p>With the country hit by six typhoons in just 30 days last year, and 2024 recorded as the hottest year ever, the group says the 2025 elections must be a referendum on climate action.<\/p>\n\n<p>\u201cClimate change is already threatening our rights to food, water, health, and security,\u201d said Lea Guerrero, Greenpeace Philippines Country Director. \u201cCandidates must go beyond promises and deliver bold, people-centered solutions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n<p>Greenpeace released a 5-point Climate Justice Agenda as both a guide for voters and a challenge to candidates:<\/p>\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Champion communities with inclusive, rights-based adaptation;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hold polluters accountable\u2014make them pay for climate damage;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Back a Just Energy Transition away from fossil fuels;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Promote health-focused climate policies; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mainstream climate justice across all levels of governance.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<p>Without urgent and systemic action, Greenpeace warns, the climate crisis will exacerbate poverty, hunger, and inequality\u2013top issues for Filipino voters. \u201cThis Earth Day, let\u2019s demand real action because our lives and our future depend on it.
