Based in Colombo, Greenpeace South Asia is a growing, impact-driven campaigning organization committed to driving meaningful and lasting change across the region.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>A<\/strong><strong>bout the position:<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>As we expand our reach and ambition, we are looking for a highly driven, value oriented professional to join us as a Community Organiser.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p>This is not a traditional NGO role. It is a frontline engagement role suited for someone passionate about people development and public engagement, with the ability to recruit, onboard, and mentor committed volunteers and volunteer leaders. Deliver high-impact public engagement initiatives that promote organisational campaigns, strengthen visibility, and generate leads and supporter sign-ups.<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Volunteer recruitment, training, communication &amp; development<\/strong>:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p>Lead volunteer recruitment, onboarding, and development to build and sustain active local volunteer networks. Establish and support city-based volunteer groups, enabling volunteer leaders to independently organise activities. Design and deliver training sessions, induction programmes, and structured skill-building plans, while maintaining regular communication through digital platforms. Manage volunteer engagement calendars, newsletters, and ensure accurate upkeep of volunteer databases.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Local media interface&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>Work in collaboration with the media team to support local and national media coverage of campaigns. Contribute to securing media visibility for city-level initiatives and support broader communication efforts as required.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<p><strong>Whom we\u2019re looking for:<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>The ideal candidate has experience leading small teams of staff or volunteers and delivering training sessions to build skills and knowledge. They are skilled in building and maintaining relationships with community groups and stakeholders, and in using a range of communication and digital tools to mobilise and engage people effectively. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with web-based databases are required, along with confidence in using social and digital platforms for outreach and organising.
