It is a living presence, one that asks for patience, balance, and care rather than endless extraction.Yet decisions about conservation and development are too often made without the people most closely connected to these places having a meaningful say.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this edition of <em>Witness<\/em>, we return to Mannar, where coastal communities, artists, researchers, and young people are finding new ways to document change, share knowledge, and shape the future of the places they call home.
