Jakarta \u2014 Commenting on palm oil trader Wilmar\u2019s \u2018No Deforestation, No Peat, No Exploitation Policy\u2019 progress report, Greenpeace Indonesia campaigner Annisa Rahmawati said:<\/p>\n
\u201cTwo years ago, many hoped that Wilmar\u2019s landmark \u2018No Deforestation\u2019 policy
\nwould transform the palm oil industry. Instead, deforestation in Indonesia is
\naccelerating and Wilmar is unable to prove that its suppliers are not
\nresponsible. Nor has it made significant progress towards eliminating social
\nconflict within its supply chain.<\/p>\n
Wilmar must act quickly if it wants to maintain its leadership position within
\nthe palm oil industry; pushing for increased transparency through public release
\nof maps, ensuring group-level action, and implementing an independent
\nverification system.<\/p>\n
As a dedicated Indonesian Palm Oil Pledge (IPOP) member, Wilmar has the
\nopportunity to drive collective action to reach the goals it set itself two
\nyears ago to transform the palm oil industry.\u201d<\/p>\n
