This position is fixed term contract based in Thailand – Southeast Asia, with another possible extension. The Oceans Project Communications Senior Specialist is assigned to fully support ocean campaign projects both national and regional-global level. The campaign projects address the issues of coastal protection, illegal fishing, and human rights in fisheries. In certain situations, as determined by internal and external events and upon the consideration and recommendation of the ocean campaigner, the officer is expected to support other Greenpeace’s oceans campaign projects at national, regional, and global level, as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities
- The Oceans Project Communications Senior Specialist is assigned to fully support Oceans Campaign projects both national and regional-global level. The campaign projects address the issues of illegal fishing, human rights in fisheries and ocean protection. In certain situations, as determined by internal and external events and upon the consideration and recommendation of the oceans campaigner, the officer is expected to support other Greenpeace’s oceans campaign projects at national, regional, and global level, as needed.
- Lead and contribute to national and regional communication and media strategies, including the development of key messages for Greenpeace ocean campaign projects.
- Prepare materials including blogs, press kits, social media content, briefing documents, backgrounders, media pitches, PPT presentations and more.
- Oversee the monitoring and analysis of media coverage relevant to Greenpeace ocean’s campaign and overall mission.
- Coordinate and communicate media strategies with Greenpeace International, contributing to international strategy when possible.
- Work closely with Greenpeace Thailand Digital and Communications Team, Campaigns team. Also provide support to the Public and Engagement team and Fundraising team in Greenpeace Thailand and across Greenpeace Southeast Asia Offices.
- Build alliances and/or support relationships with relevant media and others as identified in strategic planning.
- Develop monitoring and evaluation mechanisms for the campaign and implement progress reviews and end-point evaluations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Digital media, Journalism, or in relevant fields
- Demonstrated a minimum of 2-3 years experience in related industry, with clear success.
- An environmental/activist organization (work on oceans issues) is desirable.
