Purpose of the Job:

Communication is a major strength of Greenpeace: it helps us to drive the attention to the problems, promote the solutions we are pushing for, and inspire people to take action. We are currently looking for a skilled and passionate communications specialist who can work with us during 2019 with a one-year contract to communicate our projects through telling inspiring human stories in order to mobilize people and actively contribute to the development and implementation of communication strategies and engagement plans that support our projects.

Main Responsibilities:

Environmental project management

  • As a member of the project teams, play a key role in developing of audience centered communication and engagement strategies, tactics and plans
  • Lead implementation of the communication plans and strategies (copywriting, production of photos, videos, narratives and stories)
  • Find, develop and tell the stories to mobilize people around causes of our projects
  • Coordinate output calendar

Management of Media

  • Write, organize, edit and distribute communication content (press releases, press quotes, media advisories, texts, videos, photos, stories)
  • Find and execute non-traditional and innovative ways of reaching out to audiences using digital channels and social media (i.e. twitter, youtube etc.)
  • Develop Q&A and internal communication lines
  • Curate archive of our visual materials and communication outputs
  • Maintain and enlarge our contacts with journalists and other relevant media players, with particular focus on online media

Reporting and Monitoring

  • Ensure a robust set of KPIs are created and reported for projects as well as overall organization
  • Ensure that relevant media content is monitored and reported back in a timely manner to relevant colleagues
  • Monitor and analyze media content trends

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Turkish
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of communication
  • Experience in a copywriting, storytelling and communications
  • Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written and verbal format, and building narratives
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to create human stories, innovative communication concepts and creative ideas to outreach to various audiences
  • Good organizational and project management skills including the ability to manage competing priorities and work to tight deadlines on occasion.

  • An understanding and experience of digital media or social media channels (i.e. twitter, youtube etc.) in addition to traditional comms and media experience
  • A specialism in one (or more) comms discipline, such as management of a photo desk, photo and video editing or production, creative communication skills, relationship management with creative agencies, and / or design and photoshop skills,
