On the eve of the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2025 in Rome, Greenpeace Ukraine and SolarPower Europe co-hosted a high-level side event dedicated to unlocking the potential of solar energy in Ukraine\u2019s green recovery. The discussion brought together policymakers, investors, and energy experts to explore how Ukraine can become a key country for solar power \u2014 even amid the ongoing war.

The event focused on improving investment conditions for solar PV and storage systems, addressing the main risks faced by investors, and showcasing opportunities created by the EU\u2019s Ukraine Facility and other financial instruments.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cThe transition to solar energy is not just about cleaner power \u2014 it’s about building energy independence, resilience, and hope for Ukraine,\u201d said Andree Boehling, European co-lead of the Green Reconstruction of Ukraine project at Greenpeace Ukraine. <\/strong>\u201cLast year in Berlin, we presented the Marshall Plan for Solar<\/a> – a document with step-by-step actions and calculations on how to increase Ukraine’s solar potential by 5 times. This year in Rome, we’re discussing how to make it real. To unlock this potential, we must create the right conditions for bold, forward-looking investment \u2014 even amid the war.\u201d

All participants agreed: solar energy \u2014 combined with smart grids and storage \u2014 must play a central role in rebuilding Ukraine\u2019s energy system. And to get there, financial risks need to be mitigated, and international cooperation must deepen.<\/p>\n\n

This event marked another milestone in the partnership between Greenpeace Ukraine and SolarPower Europe, which began in March 2025 to accelerate the deployment of solar PV systems across Ukraine as part of its post-war green future.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
