James Madison Institute’s research advisory council members includes James Taylor, the Heartland Institute’s senior fellow for environmental policy. Taylor is managing editor of Heartland’s Environment and Climate News, a nonscientific publication dedicated to promoting doubt over global warming and its implications. James Taylor frequently authors political articles belittling climate science.
JMI’s research advisory council includes numerous ties to Koch-funded groups, including the Institute for Humane Studies (IHS) and the Charles Koch Institute’s Koch Associate Program, the Heritage Foundation, the Cato Institute, the Independence Institute, and the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC).
James Madison Institute director Mark Crosswhite is the President and CEO of Gulf Power, a subsidiary of Southern Company, known for coordinating with oil companies to misrepresent climate science, and secretly funding Smithsonian scientist Willie Soon for research intended to contradict the broad scientific consensus that human fossil fuel use is most responsible for unnatural climate variability.
