It was founded in 1973 by the late Joseph Coors (the founder of Coors Brewing) and the late Paul Weyrich. Weyrich played a historic role in transforming wealthy people and businesses into major political influencers, famously proclaiming, <em>&#8220;I don&#8217;t want everybody to vote. Elections are not won by a majority of people. They never have been from the beginning of our country, and they are not now. As a matter of fact our leverage in the elections quite candidly goes up as the voting populace goes down.&#8221;<\/em><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/8GBAsFwPglw?rel=0\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>ProPublica <a href=\"https:\/\/projects.propublica.org\/graphics\/koch\">reported<\/a> that Heritage Action, the 501c4 arm of the Heritage Foundation, received $500,000 from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sourcewatch.org\/index.php\/Freedom_Partners#Winter_2016\">Freedom Partners<\/a>, a consortium of donors founded by Koch Industries executives, in the 2012 U.S. presidential election. This &#8220;outside spending&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In 2010, The Heritage Foundation severely <a class=\"zoom\" href=\"http:\/\/www.polluterwatch.com\/blog\/heritage-foundation-cuts-and-pastes-upend-scientific-report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">misrepresented the Royal Society\u2019s position on climate change<\/a>, editing out ten pages of a report to make it appear that the scientific authority was uncertain about the occurrence of global warming. The post\u2019s author is a <a class=\"zoom\" href=\"http:\/\/heritage.org\/About\/Staff\/L\/Nicolas-Loris\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">former associate<\/a> of the Charles G. Koch Charitable Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>Heritage\u00a0<a class=\"zoom\" href=\"http:\/\/www.heritage.org\/Research\/Reports\/2011\/01\/Three-Policy-Changes-to-Help-with-Gasoline-Prices\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">supports federal approval of the Keystone XL pipeline<\/a>, which would greatly increase <a href=\"http:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/canada\/en\/campaigns\/tarsands\/Learn-about\/\">tar sands<\/a> imports from Canada and directly <a class=\"zoom\" href=\"http:\/\/solveclimatenews.com\/news\/20110210\/koch-brothers-positioned-be-big-winners-if-keystone-xl-pipeline-approved\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">benefit Koch Industries<\/a> and other major oil companies as a result.<\/p>\n<p>The Heritage Foundation has also: <a class=\"zoom\" title=\"Heritage Foundation\" href=\"http:\/\/www.desmogblog.com\/unequivocal-faith-climate-change-quibblers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">misinterpreted the impacts of global warming<\/a> on the US economy; twisted news reports to justify claims about &#8216;<a class=\"zoom\" title=\"Heritage Foundation\" href=\"http:\/\/switchboard.nrdc.org\/blogs\/paltman\/heritage_foundation_fools_itse.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">climate taxes&#8217;<\/a>; issued <a class=\"zoom\" title=\"Heritage Foundation\" href=\"http:\/\/climateprogress.org\/2009\/05\/04\/heritage-foundation-green-jobs-dirty-energy-exxonmobil\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">deceptive economic analyses and presentations<\/a>; and released <a class=\"zoom\" title=\"Heritage Foundation\" href=\"http:\/\/www.americanprogress.org\/issues\/2008\/11\/heritage_response.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">allegations about economic ruin and job losses<\/a> from green stimulus investments by Congress.<\/p>\n<p>Heritage Foundation promoted the <a class=\"zoom\" title=\"Heritage Foundation\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nrdc.org\/experts\/pete-altman\/debunking-spanish-jobs-study-9-inconvenient-truths-you-should-know-about\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">discredited &#8220;Spanish&#8221; study<\/a>\u00a0to undermine the clean energy sector, working with the\u00a0<a class=\"zoom\" title=\"Heritage Foundation\" href=\"http:\/\/www.instituteforenergyresearch.org\/2009\/05\/01\/calzada-joins-economis-murphy-at-heritage-forum-on-green-jobs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Institute for Energy Research (IER)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Heritage is a member of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/usa\/en\/campaigns\/global-warming-and-energy\/polluterwatch\/koch-industries\/state-policy-network-spn\/?__utma=1.834972712.1309880319.1345146585.1345148660.342&amp;__utmb=1.1.10.1345148660&amp;__utmc=1&amp;__utmx=-&amp;__utmz=1.1345137232.339.249.utmcsr=google|utmccn=%28organic%29|utmcmd=organic|utmctr=%28not%20provided%29&amp;__utmv=-&amp;__utmk=254992904\">State Policy Network<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/secureusa.greenpeace.org\/convio\/koch_funding.php?o=20\" width=\"570\" height=\"1150\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Koch Industries Climate Denial Front Group$6,130,201 from Koch foundations, 1997-2017.
