Unscientific\u00a0<a class=\"zoom\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thefreemanonline.org\/columns\/peripatetics-global-warming-and-the-layman\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">skepticism<\/a> and <a class=\"pdf\" href=\"http:\/\/c457332.r32.cf2.rackcdn.com\/pdf\/the-freeman\/May07%20Cordato.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">obstructionism<\/a> regarding global warming are promoted both on FEE\u2019s blogs and through <em>The Freeman<\/em>&#8211;including <a href=\"http:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/usa\/en\/campaigns\/global-warming-and-energy\/polluterwatch\/koch-industries\/CASE-STUDY-Dr-Willie-Soon-a-Career-Fueled-by-Big-Oil-and-Coal\/#a1\">Willie Soon<\/a>, whose grants since 2002 are exclusively from fossil fuel interests, and the promotion of <a class=\"zoom\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thefreemanonline.org\/book-reviews\/book-review-the-satanic-gases-clearing-the-air-about-global-warming-by-patrick-j-michaels-and-robert-c-balling\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">two<\/a> <a class=\"zoom\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thefreemanonline.org\/book-reviews\/climate-of-extremes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">books<\/a> by discredited industry apologist scientists Patrick Michaels and Robert Balling.<\/p>\n<p>In an apparent <a class=\"zoom\" href=\"http:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/usa\/en\/campaigns\/global-warming-and-energy\/polluterwatch\/koch-industries\/Foundation-for-Economic-Education-FEE---Koch-Industries-Climate-Denial-Front-Group\/:%20http:\/\/www.thefreemanonline.org\/featured\/higher-co2-more-global-warming-and-less-extinction\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rebuttal<\/a> to an article in Nature linking global warming to increased extinction rates,<em>The Freeman<\/em> cites the Koch-funded <a href=\"http:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/usa\/en\/campaigns\/global-warming-and-energy\/polluterwatch\/koch-industries\/george-c-marshall-institute\/\">Marshall Institute<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/usa\/en\/campaigns\/global-warming-and-energy\/polluterwatch\/koch-industries\/center-for-the-study-of-carbon\/\">Center for the Study of Carbon Dioxide and Global Change<\/a>, a project of the Western Fuels Association (a coal industry front), which has received grants from Koch foundations and ExxonMobil with staff currently contracted by The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/usa\/en\/campaigns\/global-warming-and-energy\/polluterwatch\/koch-industries\/heartland-institute-hi\/\">Heartland Institute<\/a>&#8212;<em>see <a class=\"zoom\" href=\"http:\/\/www.polluterwatch.com\/greenpeace-investigates-heartland-institute-leaked-documents\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Greenpeace&#8217;s investigation of Heartland Institute leaked documents<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Foundation for Economic Education <a class=\"zoom\" href=\"http:\/\/fee.org\/articles\/in-brief\/scientists-doubt-climate-change\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">promoted a list<\/a> created by Senator James Inhofe, who gets more <a class=\"zoom\" href=\"http:\/\/www.opensecrets.org\/politicians\/contrib.php?cycle=2010&amp;cid=N00005582&amp;type=C\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">political donations<\/a> from Koch Industries than any other single source, naming 400 scientists who supposedly doubt the climate change scientific consensus. In examination of the authenticity of this list, the <a class=\"zoom\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thedailygreen.com\/environmental-news\/latest\/inhofe-global-warming-deniers-47011101\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Daily Green<\/a> found that of the 400 names, 44 were TV weathermen, 70 have no background in climate science, and 84 were recipients of industry money.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"zoom\" href=\"http:\/\/fee.org\/about\/staff\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FEE staff<\/a> are linked to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/usa\/en\/campaigns\/global-warming-and-energy\/polluterwatch\/koch-industries\/mackinac-center-for-public-pol\/\">Mackinac Center<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/usa\/en\/campaigns\/global-warming-and-energy\/polluterwatch\/koch-industries\/americans-for-prosperity-found\/\">Americans for Prosperity<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/usa\/en\/campaigns\/global-warming-and-energy\/polluterwatch\/koch-industries\/cato-institute\/\">Cato Institute<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>FEE is a member of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/usa\/en\/campaigns\/global-warming-and-energy\/polluterwatch\/koch-industries\/state-policy-network-spn\/?__utma=1.834972712.1309880319.1345146585.1345148660.342&amp;__utmb=1.1.10.1345148660&amp;__utmc=1&amp;__utmx=-&amp;__utmz=1.1345137232.339.249.utmcsr=google|utmccn=%28organic%29|utmcmd=organic|utmctr=%28not%20provided%29&amp;__utmv=-&amp;__utmk=254992904\">State Policy Network<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/secureusa.greenpeace.org\/convio\/koch_funding.php?o=14\" width=\"600\" height=\"1150\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Koch Industries Climate Denial Front Group$353,167 from Koch foundations, 2000-2017.
